Celebrating Five Years Of Supporting Families

30th December 2017

This week we're celebrating five years of supporting families in Merseyside dealing with neurodevelopmental conditions.

Founded in 2012, the team here at ADDvanced Solutions deliver a unique range of services including; training, coaching and mentoring; and health, wellbeing and enrichment activities for families living with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, HFA, sensory processing difficulties, ADHD and dyslexia.

One of the founders, director of learning, coaching and mentoring development, Rita Jones explains: “Over the last five years, we have equipped and empowered hundreds of parents, carers, children and young people with the skills, tools, knowledge and confidence to better recognise, understand and meet the needs of their families.

“Living with a child with a neurodevelopmental condition can be very worrying and challenging. We support families pre, during and post diagnosis to help them understand and deal with these day-to-day challenges and how to manage their individual situations.”

As a Community Interest Company, ADDvanced Solutions are commissioned by both Liverpool and St Helens Clinical Commissioning Groups and St Helens Local Authority to run community-based initiatives such as the Community Network Groups whereby families can attend weekly, informal workshops to discuss with professionals and other families, concerns about a range of issues, including behavior or progress at home or school. Their Family Learning Programme equips parents, carers and other family members with the understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions and the skills to manage day-to-day situations.

We took our celebrations to another level as local singer-songwriter Claire Mooney and some mums took to the stage to perform a song they had written celebrating their children living with neurodevelopmental conditions.   Young people also presented their poems, raps and films around positive mental health.

Speaking at the event, Clair Horrocks a parent who has used the service for three years, said: “With the help of ADDVanced Solutions, families feel empowered to make the necessary changes to improve their lives. I’ve learnt how to adopt appropriate tools and invaluable strategies that make day-to-day situations seem less challenging.”#

A huge thanks to everyone who came along to share our celebrations - it was fantastic to see so many happy faces, and hear so much positive feedback from parents and young people who have used our services.

In October we spoke to Mick Coyle on Radio City Talk about what we do, and how we've supported families over the last five years. Listen to the interview here.
