Learning Programmes & Workshops for Liverpool Families

Through our community-based groups, we offer free programmes and learning opportunities that support the families of neurodivergent children & young people, who may also have specific learning difficulties or associated mental health needs.

We also offer weekly informal learning, advice and support at our community network groups, no need to wait or book just come along.

ND Conditions Learning Programme

Covering Autism, ADHD and Sensory Processing Difficulties as well as specific learning difficulties, SEND and the local offer, the neurodevelopmental conditions learning programme gives parents and carers the knowledge and confidence to better understand and meet the needs of their neurodivergent children and young people with or without a diagnosis.

Our next programme in Liverpool will be over 3 Fridays 17th and 24th April and 1st May 2026. (you attend all 3)

We also offer this programme as 6 online evening webinar sessions each half term and the next programme begins on Tuesday 14th April.  If you prefer to access online register below:

Autism Learning Programme

Designed to help parents and carers, whose child or young person has received a diagnosis of autism, to develop their understanding and learn valuable strategies to support.  Subject to availability, places may be available to those whose child is under assessment for autism.

Sessions will cover: 

  • communication skills
  • sensory processing differences
  • self-esteem and mental well-being
  • different thought processes
  • discussing a diagnosis
  • supporting independence.

Our Autism Learning programme is offered in venues across Liverpool and Sefton and also online, with a focus on specific age groups: either pre-school and primary  (3-10yrs) or tweens and teens (11-19yrs).

 
 

ADHD Learning Programme

Designed for parents and carers whose child or young person has a diagnosis of ADHD.  Subject to availability, places may be available to those whose child is under assessment for ADHD.  This programme equips parents and carers with a greater understanding of the condition and its impact on children and young people. We will share practical strategies that can be used to support the challenges and promote positive outcomes.

The programme covers:

  • Recognising the different presentations of ADHD.
  • Understanding the impact on everyday life.
  • Sharing a diagnosis and communicating with your child or young person about their ADHD.
  • Supporting mental health and wellbeing.
  • Exploring medication, strategies, interventions and lifestyle choices.
  • Managing everyday challenges of ADHD.
  • Latest research, legislation and support services.

Our next programme in Liverpool will be over 3 Wednesdays 3rd, 10th and 17th June.

We will also offer this programme across 6 evening online webinar sessions later in the year.

Sensory Processing Difficulties Awareness Raising Training

Our Sensory Processing Difficulties (SPD) Awareness Raising Training helps parents and carers in Liverpool to understand sensory processing difficulties, emotional regulation and praxis with sensory strategies to better support their child or young person. Delivered in partnership with an occupational therapist advanced practitioner in sensory integration.

Eating Difficulties Training

After completing our Sensory Processing Difficulties (SPD) Awareness Raising Training, parents and carers who want to better support their child or young person with eating difficulties can go on to attend this two day programme.

Liverpool Community Network Group

Our Liverpool Community Network Group runs each Tuesday morning in term time, 9.30am – 11.30am at Belle Vale Children’s Centre, Hedgefield Road, Liverpool, L25 2RW.  We offer a weekly opportunity for informal learning and support, discussing a different topic each week and sharing experiences and the local offer in your area. No need to book just come along.

We have a limited offer of learning opportunities for  small groups of children or young people to attend our ND&Me programme.  The programme enables them to better understand themselves and their neurodiversity, build confidence, find strategies to manage their challenges and feel positive about the future. Requires parents / carers to have completed our ND Learning Programme.

Supporting Behaviours that Challenge Learning Programme

Supporting parents and carers  to examine and unpick the root causes of challenging behaviour in your child or young person and understand what the behaviour is telling you.

We will explore strategies to enable you to identify the triggers, improve communication and support the challenges.
